Il racconto di una città
In 1965, Bruno Alfieri published a book dedicated to the city of Milan, in a limited edition of just 500 copies. The volume offers a portrait of the Lombard capital through a selection of 54 photographs taken by Giulia Pirelli and Carlo Orsi.
On the cover, an elegant traffic warden in a white uniform at the Duomo underground station is captured by Orsi, becoming the unwitting model of a measured composition that would go on to become one of the photographer’s most iconic shots.
The volume opens with a text by Dino Buzzati and offers a vivid portrait of Milan in the mid-1960s: an elegant, cosmopolitan city in full swing.
