Vogue Magazine

Almost by chance

"His distinctive signature was storytelling—reportage—even when working in fields such as sports, advertising, or fashion, a world he stumbled into almost by chance while shooting an assignment for La Rinascente. With the covers he created for ‘Vogue' and 'Linea Italiana', he bought himself a Ferrari Testarossa, the motorbikes he rode through the mountains of Trentino and the deserts of Libya, and a farmhouse on the Po River where he kept Pomodoro’s sculptures, paintings, books, his Leica cameras, and his astonishing archive. Yet in 'Montigo' (Monticelli), his favorite room was the large kitchen, where he loved to slice salami and uncork a good bottle of wine to ‘settle in under the table’ with friends."
