Born in Milan, Gianfranco Pardi (1933-2012) developed a body of work focused on exploring the representational and constructive qualities of space. Since the 1960s, he integrated painting, drawing, and sculpture through a constant and rigorous design of form and space, reflecting his education as an architect. His works are characterized by the use of geometric and structural elements that investigate balance, movement, and spatial tension. He participated in important international exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale (1972, 1986) and the Rome Quadriennale. His works are included in numerous public and private collections in Italy and abroad.
With Gianfranco Pardi, Carlo Orsi conceived the idea of creating an ambitious and visionary magazine: Città Milano.
Through images by Orsi and other photographers, the magazine delves into the vibrant reality of the city, exploring with depth and passion every aspect of its cultural, professional, scientific, academic, and social life, with dedicated chapters that narrate its multifaceted nature and vitality.
Despite significant challenges and limited resources, Carlo Orsi, Emilio Tadini, Guido Vergani, Giorgio Terruzzi, and Silvana Beretta came together enthusiastically, forming a small and motivated editorial team.
The venture began with fervor and determination, greatly supported and inspired by Gianfranco Pardi, whose artistic genius proved crucial to the magazine’s success. Thanks to his enlightened vision, Città Milano constitutes a passionate tribute to the city of Milan and its extraordinary vitality, a vibrant and engaging testimony to the beating heart of the metropolis.
