Accompanying the exhibition of the same name at the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, Skira published the book Jannis Kounellis. Atto Unico in 2006, containing photographs taken by Carlo Orsi. The photographer captured Kounellis during the process of creating and installing a monumental site-specific work (Untitled, 2006) inside the former industrial building that houses the Foundation's exhibition spaces.

Bruno Corà, curator of the exhibition, sees in the installation “the breath and conception of a great ‘fresco’ work,” whose traditional medium is “overcome and replaced by the conception of the use of real space and the use of reality to create painting.” This spatial dimension is masterfully rendered in Orsi's photographs, which document the process of creating the work until its completion, showing the artist interacting with it, working and moving within it from unusual perspectives.

The photographer also records the bond and creative understanding that develops between Kounellis, Arnaldo Pomodoro, and director Ermanno Olmi, who was called upon for the occasion to shoot a film that, screened during the event, offers an immersive and multisensory experience.
