A group of old boys, bound by friendship and common solid memories, decided to get together to photograph and narrate Milan in a (for now) six-monthly newspaper, huge in format but cautious in ambition, which has no sponsors, patrons, shareholders of reference, 'ownership,' money from this or that pure or impure publisher behind it and hopes for the honest support of advertising. Why such a counter-trend format in the era of tabloid newspapers, of 'news magazines'? Because "Città", in a journalistic time that gives little space to photography, wants to bear witness to Milan above all through images, the lens of great photographers: writers and journalists will accompany with their writing what the images say, they will go 'inside' the visual document, they will be its continuation, its complement, brought by photography to the desire to narrate the city, to discover it, to mirror it even in its memories, in its feelings.
Which city, which Milan? Above all, the one that works, that represents the reverse of a long-standing crisis, whose faults are not only of the political class and also call into question the closure of civil society, its recent propensity to breathe short.
Without falsifications or 'whiffs' or optimism, "Città" will bring to the foreground characters, events, positive aspects, without losing sight of the problems, the 'endless stories,' that besiege our way of life and 'thrash' our metropolitan pride.
We will not roll the drums on the 'good,' nor will we lecture on the 'bad.' We will simply recount Milan, we will look at it from the perspective of those who live it, loving it.
